Soft and subtle is the perfect combination for a sympathy card. This card fits my criteria nicely.
The stunning Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper will remind you of a Monet painting.
Toning it down with a piece of vellum gives it a nice soft vibe. Vellum leaves and sprigs along with one sweet flower complete the look.
I am also a fan of tone on tone sympathy cards. How do you like your sympathy cards? Color or no color?

Hello friends. Oh, my goodness. Look at this sketch! I am NOT a triangle girl at all. Circle, ovals, squares and rectangles are perfect for me and my cards.
I am up for this challenge though. I created a visual triangle on my card. What do you think?
Clean & simple, my favorite kind of sympathy card.
Change the sentiment and you could make this a birthday card for a beach lover, or a get-well card for someone who needs a little pick me up. Versatility and creativity is what card making is all about.
I always enjoy hearing from you! Please leave me your questions or comments about the project for today.
Have a fabulous day! Ginny

Today I am playing along with the Global Design Project #138 sketch. I needed some sympathy cards and this sketch gave me a starting point.

I went with monochrome colors for a soft and sweet sympathy card. I like Whisper White or Very Vanilla for sympathy cards. Every once and awhile I may use a light pink or blue. Soft and simple are my usual go to. It is always hard to make sympathy cards, so I do like to have a few in reserve. Do you keep them in your stash or do you like to create for each occasion?
Here is my Sympathy card:
All Very Vanilla with a tiny bit of Crumb Cake for an accent. I am glad this set, Flourishing Phrases will be in the new catalog. It is perfect for weddings, sympathy, and birthdays. Love a set that is multipurpose.
Don’t forget the Occasions Catalog is ending May 31 along with all the retiring products. Click HERE to see the retiring products.
Did you watch the Royal Wedding today? It was lovely. I so enjoyed seeing all the pretty colors, flowers and the wedding couple seemed so happy. I wish them all the best. I might have to take a nap after getting up so early though!
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful Saturday!

Happy Monday, Stamping Friends. I am back today with an easy WOW card for you to create. Springtime Foils is one of the new Sale-a-bration free items. This Designer Series Paper is shiny and smooth and oh so pretty. It makes lovely cards when left plain, but WOW cards when you color it with Stampin’ Blends.
Here are my cards:
Blends Coloring Tips
Tips for adding color: Start with the lightest color and add the darker highlights. Go back over it with the lighter color to blend and smooth the colors. The more you work with the colors the prettier it looks. Because this DSP is smooth you can even go back over the colors a few hours later. I found that waiting for the colors to blend and dry was helpful. Then you can go back and smooth the colors out if needed. The sentiment can be placed wherever you want. I looked at the flower to leaf balance and then decided where to place the sentiment.
Do you love these cards?
I sure do. So much so I have already mailed the birthday cards to friends!
Springtime Foils can be yours for free when you spend $50.00 (before tax and shipping).

Lovely as a Tree has been a staple of every Stampin’ Up! catalog for many years. It is one of those timeless stamp sets. Nature never goes out of style.
I had not used Lovely as a Tree in a while so I thought I would pull it out and make a few Sympathy cards. I like to keep simple, yet elegant sympathy cards on hand. This fall colored card would be very easy to replicate. Go ahead and give it a try.
I used the new Sponge Brayer to add the background color. I love these sponge brayers! Have you tried them yet? You will love them also. If you want to change colors you just rinse them out and change colors. They release the ink much better than most sponges.

Sympathy cards are hard to make. I prefer to make them when I don’t need them so I will have a variety of cards to choose from. My stack of Sympathy cards was getting low so I decided to create a few.
This is one of the designs I came up with. It is simple and classic. I don’t like fussy sympathy cards.
I used watercolor paper and painted fall colors on the wet paper. Then I splattered it with some Cherry Cobbler ink. I used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits to cut out the leaf. Then I slid the watercolor paper behind the leaf cut out. I used dimensionls to raise the top layer and it gave the card some nice dimension. A sentiment and a tiny bit of splatter finished my card.
What is your favorite type of sympathy card? Please share.
