Special Birthday Delivery

Our oldest grandson celebrated his 18th birthday a few weeks ago. When I saw the Bike Ride stamp set and matching framelits I knew I had to have it for his birthday. This past April/May we took Tyler on a graduation trip boat/bike ride through Belgium and The Netherlands.  It was so much fun to have him join us on this adventure. He really enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and they loved getting to know him! He is a wonderful, talented young man. I know he has a bright future ahead. I also knew the Bike Ride stamp set would work for all my other biking buddies and it would be used a lot.

Here is Tyler on the last day of biking…in Amsterdam.

And here is my card.

I know he liked the card, but the check inside may have been more exciting!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Peace on Earth

Today I am sharing another color challenge card I created a few weeks ago. Whenever I get in a rut or can’t make up mind what to create I either look for color ideas or sketch ideas. That gives me a starting point and then I can start working. If you need help jumpstarting your stamping mojo give this a try…it really works!

Here is the color palette I started with:

And here is my card:

It came out pretty close to what I saw in my mind.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips to create this card:

  • I used the moon and stars thinlit at the top of the Tranquil Tide cardstock (4″ x 5-1/4″) using the Big Shot, then I mounted it on a Soft Sky cardstock base: 4-1/4″ x 11″

  • The greeting was stamped onto a piece of Whisper White scrap cardstock and die cut using the Circle Framelits. I used the scallop framelit to cut Cherry Cobbler then mounted the sentiment on the Cherry Cobbler piece.

  • The ribbon is the New Shimmer Ribbon in Powder Pink.

  • The frosted trees are die cut from Pink Pirouette cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. Then they are offset to give the glimmer trees a pink shadow.

  • The snow is the Seaside Embossing folder coated with Wink of Stella to give it a pretty shine.

Carols of Christmas stamp set is an early release from the upcoming Holiday Catalog. That means you can order this stamp set and framelit set now! If you like to get an early start on your holiday card making then this set should give you a huge head start. It makes cards with a WOW factor for sure.

I hope this will inspire you to try some new colors or ideas….stretch that imagination.

Stormy Seas

One of the most popular stamp sets in the Annual Catalog is High Tide. I can understand why. Lighthouses are always a big hit, but honestly it is the sentiments in this set that get my attention. My favorite: “Let hope be your lighthouse, beckoning you through stormy seas.” Do you know someone going through a rough patch right now? This card would be a perfect pick me up. Just getting a card in the mail lets them know someone cares about them. Go ahead and send a card today. Make someone happy!

We made this card at my stamp club meeting today and everyone commented on how they knew someone who would love this card.

This lighthouse is stamped with Rose Red and Cherry Cobbler. It really pops. All the other little elements of this set make this card stand out. And those birds….you can use them with so many other stamp sets. Absolutely a “must have” stamp set in my opinion.
