Our day started with lunch at our favorite local restaurant The Café du Marche’. As usual we had great food and wonderful service.
According to our grandson, Avery, this is “The best hamburger, EVER!”
I think he may be right.
After lunch we did a little window shopping and strolled through the Rue Cler neighborhood. Faye bought a clock made from a cheese box. The “cheese man” was very glad to have his picture made with the cheese box clock.
The Rue Cler neighborhood is near the Eiffel Tower so we took a sidetrip to get our first tower view of this trip. Even though it was cloudy the tower was impressive. At the base of the tower was a display of United Buddy Bears. These are fiberglass bears painted to represent every country in the United Nations. They were colorful and each one very unique.
We had planned to start the day at the Arc de Triomphe to watch the Armistice Day observance, but we slept late instead! Our weary feet took us home by the monument and we saw the huge flag, a quartet of guards and all the memorial wreaths. A stunning reminder that Veterans from every country deserve to be honored.
We slept well after such a busy day.
