Our grandchildren live in Colorado and we live in Georgia so we very rarely get to participate in all the Halloween fun. That is why I got so excited when my friend Judy (Hi Judy!) asked me to make a costume for her daughter Kate. At Kate’s school they can wear a costume as long as it is a book character. Judy wanted Kate to be the butterfly from The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Kate is a gorgeous little 6 year old. When she was an infant she was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease. Kate spends a good part of her day in a wheelchair so a traditional butterfly costume with hard wire wings would not work for her. This is what we came up with, soft wings that snap onto the back of her dress. The wings are attached to arm warmers, like leg warmers, but for your arms……

They slide on her arms and when she extends her arms they will look like wings. I am anxious to see how the costume looks on Kate. I hope Judy will be happy with it and send lots and lots of pictures – hint, hint.

I know you probably came to see a card so here is my card for the day. This is a Halloween card made using a Crafty Secrets image. The swirls are punched out of card stock and covered with glitter. The flower is from Michael’s and I found the cute candy corn brad at the Target dollar spot.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for sticking to the end.
